According to the global auto sales ranking, in February 2026, the total domestic sales of new vehicles in South Africa reached 53,455 units, marking the best February monthly performance since 2013. This represents an increase of 5,461 units or 11.4% compared to the same period last year (47,994 units). Export sales dropped to 24,221 units, a 28.1% decrease from February 2025's figure of 33,684 units. Of the total sales of 53,455 units, an estimated 45,457 units (85.0%) were dealer retail sales, approximately 9.6% were sales to the vehicle rental industry, 3.0% were government sales, and 2.4% were sales to industry corporate fleets. Top-selling brand ranking: Toyota, Suzuki, and Volkswagen took the top three spots. Great Wall and Chery entered the top ten.
